In 2016, I hosted a short term apprentice, Giulietta Verdon Roe. Getta has now set up her own studio workshop in London, Crown Works Pottery, in Bethnal Green. see crownworkspottery.com
In 2019, I hosted a second short term apprentice, Brighid McCaffery, from New Zealand via London (pictured). Brighid now lives in Sydney and hopes to eventually set up her own space to work.
In 2022, I hosted another short term apprentice: this short term period is probably more fittingly described as ‘work experience’…a full working cycle, about 3 months, that enables the apprentice to experience a working pottery (as opposed to a teaching studio), and my particular methods of using native materials and their preparation for my glazes. This time it was Tegan Hendel, returning to Australia after 7 years in London. Tegan has now moved to Melbourne with her partner Phil, where they aim to set up a food/wine business.
In 2023, I hosted another apprentice, again on the ‘workshop experience’ model; this time it was Lucia Ocejo, also from London, and originally from Mexico City. Lucia has been working at and managing the teaching program at Crown Works Pottery in London, to which she has now returned
